The Architecture of Silence

Established in Kyoto in 1981 by Jonah Salz and Akira Shigeyama, Noho Theatre Group fuses classical Noh and Kyogen with Western experimental texts. We bridge diverse cultures through creative performance.

Our mission is to explore the spirit and techniques of Noh-Kyogen while adapting stories by Beckett, Yeats, Shakespeare and contemporary playwrights. Noho has toured to the U.S., Hong Kong, the Edinburgh Fringe Theatre Festival, and Avignon Festival.
